1933 Arrow Alpine Sports Tourer - Project SOLD
Advert Date: 04/05/2022 Advertised by:  John Elsey (member)

Picture
SOLD Transverse Torque readers will have seen the article in the Jan / Feb edition – Snippets page 11 (Alpine News). Since publication I have concluded that I do not have the passion, skills or resources to do the car justice.

The car appears to be mostly complete but it may not all be original.  The Ash frame is mostly gone, I have ‘manufactured’ a pallet wood structure to hold the body panels in place to get an impression of the car as per photo.

On change of ownership the DVLA retained the log book pending pictures of the car and the chassis number. The chassis has been changed at some point so the log book and chassis number do not match. The club were going to assist me in sorting this by authenticating the car but I have decided to sell it so that is for the next owner to sort.

The only thing I know for sure is missing is the headlights. I do have the windscreen, the wiper set up, rear and sidelights, a spare engine and a host of gaskets and some assorted spares and the old buff log book.

I am hoping there is someone out there who can do this rare car justice.

Model Y Abbott Tourer SOLD

Advert Date: 12/09/2020 Advertised by: Andrew (member)

SOLD

AMX 289 is the only known surviving Model “Y” tourer bodied by E.D. Abbott Ltd. of Wrecclesham, near Farnham, Surrey.  Abbott’s were well known in the 1930s for bodying the larger, more exotic saloons, but as the country was coming out of the Great Depression in the early thirties, needs must, and a commission to body small Fords could not be refused.  Who commissioned Edward Abbott to build the 4-seater tourer is not known; Chaseside Motors or Dagenham Motors are possibles.

Andrew’s Abbott has been totally stripped down ready for a TLC assembly. All the Model “Y” and Abbott components are present under cover in his dry garage.  The chassis has been cleaned and painted with black smooth Hammerite; the engine has been disassembled; the fuel tank has been oiled inside and painted outside.  The aluminium body sits on jacks with most of the paint stripped; new ash timber is ready to make new side chassis-sill members;  all body panels are complete, but the two offside short rad wings have been replaced by long rad ones.  Finally, and importantly, all the original black upholstery panels and seats specific to the Abbott are present.

Details of E.D. Abbott Ltd. and this car are on pages 109/110 of the Ford Models Y&C book.

This is an important unique example of a special bodied Model “Y”, which needs to be lovingly, sympathetically and enthusiastically restored to its former glory.

My May 1933 Short Radiator Four Door Ford Model Y is for sale. Long standing member of the Model Y & C Club selling the car due to lack of use of the vehicle. This car needs to be run and enjoyed more than it is at the moment. The
car was restored over 35 years ago and I have had it on the road ever since. The car is still in very nice clean useable condition. It starts and runs well, having benefited from loads of new items replaced on it recently.
The car has had a replacement steering box (from the club), it has had a new carburettor, fuel pump and pipe, HT leads and distributor caps, new sparks plugs and points, and a new battery. It also has had a stainless steel exhaust fitted; the starter and dynamo have been overhauled by Days Engineering Ltd. The brakes have also been relined (still bedding in).
The car also comes with loads of spares and paperwork history.

1937 Model Y Tudor - Y194061 SOLD
Advert Date:  27/07/2017  Advertised by:  Ron Lewis (Member)

SOLD

Here we have my 1937 Tudor that I bought in August 2014. The car had been refurbished by Ford apprentices in the eighties, but for a number of years before I bought it, had only been driven around once a year to go for an MOT.

I use the car once or twice a week and have now done four thousand happy and trouble free miles with it. BUT - my first love in cars has always been 3 wheelers, and I am hankering after one again - hence the sale of my Y!

At 77220 miles (March 2015), a fully reconditioned rebuilt engine was installed.

Other major new/reconditioned parts replaced: new battery (April 2017), radiator re-cored / reconditioned, clutch, starter motor, distributor with Swiftune Competition Condenser, petrol pump, silencer, front dampers, steering box, rear shackles, front wheel bearings, brake shoes, wiper motor, and modified dipstick.  I have spent just over £12k on the purchase and improvement of the car.

The engine that was in the car when I originally bought it is also included in the sale - this needs reconditioning before it can be used.

I have also converted all lights to LED and fitted flashing indicators.  A battery isolator is also fitted. There is a discrete 12v standby battery with a standard cigar lighter socket in glove box for satnav and mobile phone charging.

Included in the sale are the manuals I have for the Y - see picture.

There is also my emergency kit which includes: new coil, new petrol pump, spare carburetor, spark plugs, condenser, rotor arm, fan belt, one spare 6v LED bulb for every bulb size.  I have never had to use any of this kit.

The original jack, starter handle, and spare oil can are all present. There are 5 good tyres.

I also have some odds and ends that will be included.

1937 Fordor Model "Y" SOLD

Advert date: 05/06/2017   Advertised by: Justin Wilson (Non-Member)

SOLD
Model Y 1937 in green with black wings. Rebuilt in late 1990's with paint, upholstery, and wiring.  The engine looks to have been rebuilt then.

Used briefly in early 2000's then garaged since. Now running well with new fuel lines, plugs, etc. Quiet engine that idled well, and good gearbox. Will need tyres (as perished), and rear brakes recommissioning.

Body wise - micro blistering on the front wings and the bonnet and rad cowl have been hand painted. A couple of small areas of rust.

Complete and running to use as I'd and improve.

1937 Tudor Model "Y" SOLD
Advert date: 06/06/2017   Advertised by:  Keith Anderson (Non-Member)

I have had the car for years.  In that time I have removed all the wings, running boards, grill,  rear fairing, down to the tub.

Chassis is fine and has just been repainted.  Cut out all rust and damaged metal and welded in new metal. Removed all paint down to bare metal and spray with etch primer, prime and repaint and rebuild with repaired wings etc.

Good chrome on bumpers. Interior in red is tidy.

Engine pulls well, starts first time.

Converted to 12 volt.

SOLD I'm offering for sale my lovely Ford model C as I have recently acquired the tourer version and can't keep both vehicles. The car had a substantial restoration in the late eighties by Ford apprentices. This included a full re-paint, full re-trim, re-wire and engine overhaul. The car still presents very well today and is a nice useable classic that has taken me to many shows without fault. Viewing welcome.
