1933 Arrow Alpine Sports Tourer - Project SOLD
|
SOLD Transverse Torque readers will have seen the article in the Jan / Feb edition – Snippets page 11 (Alpine News). Since publication I have concluded that I do not have the passion, skills or resources to do the car justice.
The car appears to be mostly complete but it may not all be original. The Ash frame is mostly gone, I have ‘manufactured’ a pallet wood structure to hold the body panels in place to get an impression of the car as per photo. On change of ownership the DVLA retained the log book pending pictures of the car and the chassis number. The chassis has been changed at some point so the log book and chassis number do not match. The club were going to assist me in sorting this by authenticating the car but I have decided to sell it so that is for the next owner to sort. The only thing I know for sure is missing is the headlights. I do have the windscreen, the wiper set up, rear and sidelights, a spare engine and a host of gaskets and some assorted spares and the old buff log book. I am hoping there is someone out there who can do this rare car justice. |

Model Y Abbott Tourer SOLD
Advert Date: 12/09/2020 Advertised by: Andrew (member)

SOLD
AMX 289 is the only known surviving Model “Y” tourer bodied by E.D. Abbott Ltd. of Wrecclesham, near Farnham, Surrey. Abbott’s were well known in the 1930s for bodying the larger, more exotic saloons, but as the country was coming out of the Great Depression in the early thirties, needs must, and a commission to body small Fords could not be refused. Who commissioned Edward Abbott to build the 4-seater tourer is not known; Chaseside Motors or Dagenham Motors are possibles. Andrew’s Abbott has been totally stripped down ready for a TLC assembly. All the Model “Y” and Abbott components are present under cover in his dry garage. The chassis has been cleaned and painted with black smooth Hammerite; the engine has been disassembled; the fuel tank has been oiled inside and painted outside. The aluminium body sits on jacks with most of the paint stripped; new ash timber is ready to make new side chassis-sill members; all body panels are complete, but the two offside short rad wings have been replaced by long rad ones. Finally, and importantly, all the original black upholstery panels and seats specific to the Abbott are present. Details of E.D. Abbott Ltd. and this car are on pages 109/110 of the Ford Models Y&C book. This is an important unique example of a special bodied Model “Y”, which needs to be lovingly, sympathetically and enthusiastically restored to its former glory. |

SOLD
My May 1933 Short Radiator Four Door Ford Model Y is for sale. Long standing member of the Model Y & C Club selling the car due to lack of use of the vehicle. This car needs to be run and enjoyed more than it is at the moment. The car was restored over 35 years ago and I have had it on the road ever since. The car is still in very nice clean useable condition. It starts and runs well, having benefited from loads of new items replaced on it recently. The car has had a replacement steering box (from the club), it has had a new carburettor, fuel pump and pipe, HT leads and distributor caps, new sparks plugs and points, and a new battery. It also has had a stainless steel exhaust fitted; the starter and dynamo have been overhauled by Days Engineering Ltd. The brakes have also been relined (still bedding in). The car also comes with loads of spares and paperwork history. |
